![]() Has he written any of the material yet, or just knocked up a cover and sent out the guest invites?

It seems to have potential, specially with the artists who are collaborating. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Thanks for the link, Eduardo... ![]() It's a bit pedestrian, but as with all AP, it will need to be heard within the context of the album.

You're welcome, Jared. This song reminds me a bit those mid tempo numbers of the old Project sung by Lenny Zakatek. Not bad appetizer... |

Hi, Not impressed at all ... and all I can think of is that the "talent" that AP had does not, and did not, exactly translate to his own music, which is just about the same since his first couple of albums ... if you need to know more about talent, I don't think there is a whole lot of it since then. I stopped buying anything from him after the first few albums. Nice to listen to if it were on the musak tape at work, but not for picking up a CD or buying a song, in my book!

I have a simple question here. So, you are of a mind that Alan Parsons hasn't demonstrated any 'talent' in anything he has released since the mid 1970's. Furthermore, it's quite clear that you think everything he has released since then is complete and utter ![]() Yet, you simply can't resist coming into a thread aimed at admirers of AP and decide to tell us this. Can you explain, what exactly was the point of your post? Do you really think either the OP, myself or the subsequent posters are remotely interested in the content of 'your book' when it comes to AP? In other words, we would all appreciate it if you didn't behave like such a disrespectful ![]() Edited by Jared - June 02 2022 at 11:40 |

OK, being much too late now to deny that this IS an AP admirers oriented thread, here we have the tracklist:
1. Fare Thee Well 2. The Secret 3. Uroboros (featuring Tommy Shaw of STYX) 4. Don't Fade Now 5. Give 'Em My Love (featuring James Durbin, Joe Bonamassa) 6. Obstacles 7. I Won't Be Led Astray (featuring David Pack, Joe Bonamassa) 8. You Are The Light 9. Halo 10. Goin' Home 11. Be My Baby |

This has made me think. Because I have never heard an AP album. I have heard singles on the radio, and none have impressed me at all. But maybe they might hit differently within the context of an album? I admit that I’ve never even attempted or had any interest in listening to an AP album before, and that is probably because of a combination of my knowing he is massively associated with Floyd’s DSotM (which I’ve never really been a fan of, and is far closer to the bottom of any ranking I might make of Floyd albums than it is to the top), and those songs I’ve heard, and not really cared for, on the radio. So…. If I am to dip my toes in to AP waters, and actually give him a proper chance, which album (or albums) would you recommend I listen to? |

^ Hi Nick. I think the first six albums with the Project are in general the best regarded, and for a good reason (with the possible exception of Eve): great melodies and lyrics, captivating conceptual narratives, masterful arrangements. I'd add Ammonia Avenue to that run, which I like better than Eve.
The PA ratings suggest the most logical listening order, being truly essential the two first of them, Tales Of Mistery And Imagination, and I Robot. I must say that I listen first to Pyramid, and that was the one who catch me for good. It's absolutely true the observation Jared made, you need to immerse yourself completely in these albums to fully appreciate them. So, happy listening! |

Thanks for the post, Nick. As you can imagine, The APP was really about the crafting of a beautiful song and setting it within the context of a perfectly balanced album, containing several vocalists, different musical styles from up tempo light rock, moody ballads, instrumentals, electronica, within a casing of sumptuously refined production (as you can imagine). Having said that, it's not for everyone, and we'd completely respect that, however Eduardo has given you a very succinct summary of his discography, which I'd endorse. After the 'Project' with Eric ended, AP did a few crossover albums, of which for me, Try Anything Once remains a personal masterpiece. I bought it in 1994 when I was going through some tough times and it has been important to me ever since; it really does mean that much. That however doesn't answer your question, to which I'd answer by suggesting you played the second side of tToaFC as an introduction: |

Hi, I did not say I disliked AP. I did say that compared to their earlier work, I did not think it stood up as well. That is not to say that the album is "bad" at all, since I have not heard the rest of it, YET, and will do so, but this first piece was not "impressive" to be quite honest, and (to my ears) seemed to sound similar to a lot of his work in the past few years. I was only being honest. I never thought, for a minute, that a thread was about kissing poo ping, and making sure that the band gets more sales out. While your "criticism" is fair to a point, it is a sad comment on the state of "fans" ...
