Vox is a strange kind of compilation. They put together all Malicorne's songs "a
cappella" released on the previous albums: the only songs that didn't appear before
are "Le navire de Bayonne / Paye paysan" and the remix of "Marions les roses" (that
doesn't sound so different from the original, indeed). The result in my opinion is quite
boring: I like very much some of these songs (for instance "Margot", "Salut à la
compagnie" and "Jolie mai") but I think that here you risk an "overdose". The short
moments "a cappella" on album like "Malicorne II" or "Almanach" are quite good
because they sound like breaks, they sound different. But a whole album with only
vocals (though sometimes there are some instruments in the background) is too much.
The booklet is good, with all the lyrics and a lot of information about the songs, but if
you look for a compilation to check this band it is better avoid "Vox": this album is not
a "best of" or a good sample of Malicorne's music.
Useless, just for completionists!
