3 stars In the sense of a pop rock mindset prior to listening, I really enjoyed the album. The three stars are for letting the users know it's not progressive rock and it wouldn't be essential to a prog collection.

The successor to 90125, Big Generator further emphasizes the pop rock-ness of the band. However, the unique touches with samples and world influences (ie; Latin percussion, voice types) gives it a new kind of technical edge much like its predecessor. What gives much dissatisfaction to fellow proggers is just that: it's not progressive rock. While there are some exceptions ("I'm Running" has got to at least be art rock-ish), it still does not live up to any of Yes's progressive material. I generally enjoy some pop rock bands, so seeing Yes give it a go is very nice. Besides, can you blame them if all their prog contemporaries did the same thing?

Perhaps the odd thing I found was the production errors and odd little technical glitches in the sound, There are a few and it drove me a little bonkers trying to compare my CD to the digital version only to find it's on them all... To think there was like 3 producers and like 4 engineers who didn't catch this...

Anyways this is overall a great pop rock album!
