4 stars This is the second album of one of the many side-projects by Ayreon's leader Arjen Lucassen, who apparently likes to compartmentalize his musical production. The different acts are not consecutive over time, but they are called in on demand. I don't know if he does it for targeting specific audiences, which is a clever way of reducing criticisms when releasing material of different flavors that may annoy fans. I won't criticize this, it is an option. All we want is good music, right? This album is much more uniform in the rock style than the former Space Metal, without any surprise in the instrumentation and the classic musical features of Ayreon's. It contains a good bunch of excellent tracks including a very good cover of Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Knife Edge. The highlights are Lastday, Closer to the Stars, and It All Ends Here.
