4 stars What a great entrance that of the opening theme Perfume River, really slow, but so good, and it grows well to the end. This album delivers a bunch of perfect themes in the same quiet mood as in all albums from the last decade. Fish is here crafting music at his best. Normally I get tired of listening to slow melancholic tunes but Fish knows how and when to add a bit of pepper here and there to keep one up listening carefully not to miss any detail of the thousands he adorns the themes with. But it is not only a question of production, all themes except the album title one have a great compositional work. There is a five-part epic really fantastic, The High Wood, each of the pieces stand perfectly alone (lyrics apart, which I don't care about), with totally different musical motifs, all highly inspired. Worth mentioning is the Blind to the Beautiful, one of those unforgettable tunes that Fish has the ability to catch from who knows where. An almost perfect album to enjoy once and again. 4.5
