4 stars Who wants vocals in a Prog band? I mean, Prog is creation, and very few singers play. This band is a good example that music goes directly to the guts not the brains. Without voices one may taste the plate with no distraction. This first EP by the Prog Metal band Meridian is a pure joy of guitar riffs, six tracks of similar structure: one starts riffing the other follows and up to the end. It takes a high dose of talent to craft such amount of solos without making it repetitive. This is not music for all ears, it will bore symphonic lovers, but if you come from rock, you have an appointment in Meridian. The bass-drum section is a bit naif, just serving a background for guitars to shine. It is fresh, it may go a bit rough, but these guys play the hell good guitar! 3.5 rounded up.
