4 stars After all, Edison's Children saved an ace up the sleeve. This album is an excellent collection of tunes that redeems Blackwood and Trewavas for all the self-plagiarism past and future. Three albums and two EPs and all good ideas are concentrated here. Why is it so difficult to put these guys at work? Ok, they are not the best in the house, and probably these are all the ideas they were able to put together in their years in Marillion. Blackwood is not a guitar hero, and his composition is straight and simple, a few catchy notes in a good surrounding. Some keyboards might have helped. Anyway, the ideas are good, the singing is borrowed, but still personal and deep, and it manages to create a melancholic atmosphere that is however catchy. The repertoire is short though, and they will use and re-use it in next releases. Was this the swan song?
